Dear reader, welcome to the 5th Edition of the African Mountains’ Echo- the voice for Sustainable Mountain Development in Africa, produced with financial support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
In this issue, we tell you why Shipe highlands in Nigeria are a God send to the Kubwa Community and why mountains are important for the economic development of Lesotho. We also focus on population explosion as one of the drivers of change in African mountains, and tell you more about the Ethiopian Wildlife and Natural History Society - one of the latest entrants into the Mountain Partnership from Africa. Under policy, we highlight the importance of Mountain Strategies for National development and bring to your attention, a couple of events and announcements.
Once again, we thank all of our members and partners for their great contribution to this issue. We look forward to continued collaboration and partnership in promoting Sustainable Mountain Development in Africa.
